Best FSX SP2 AI program for N-America freeware/payware?

Featured Replies

I'm not sure about some of the reflective models/ textures.Another thing you might watch for is repaints which have a solid white or solid black alpha layer. But by and large - there are no real issues with DX9 - it's the way the individual painter did the textures. The biggest texture/ alpha layer issue with FSX is separate textures for props - they do need a dark alpha layer like the default FSX aircraft. Though frankly I just normally replace a separate prop texture with one of the defaults. If the aircraft has a unique prop - I'll use a default alpha for the correct number of blades.BTW - this prop alpha standard is the same with FS2002 and FS2004 as with FSX - the only difference is FS2004 and pre-SP2 FSX allowed props with the FS98 configuration to work. One thing which is much better about FSX SP2 over SP1 for AI aircraft is the deep black is not used for untextured parts of the models.

Hi there, naaa, I wouldn't stay with SP1. Reggie pointed out a couple of advantages. About AI, if costs aren't much of an issue and flightplan fidelity is important, FS Live Traffic probably is the best option for North America. http://www.airnavsystems.com/In case, I would recommend getting (the underlying) My Traffic X first and then subscribe to AirNav's flightplans. AirNav ships with older AI-models at the moment. Also, the next large (Simmarket) MTX v.5.1 upgrade is in the pipeline, so it might be worthwhile to wait a couple of days at prese? ;-) http://secure.simmarket.com/product_info.p...roducts_id=2072If you know how to edit the FSX.cfg and don't have active legacy(FS8/9) traffic.bgls which surpress FSX-traffic bgls, the installation is very simple. People do sometimes have trouble activating the - nota bene - MS traffic toolbox, but here the same applies, if you're comfortable with editing a file and have FSX Professional, no worries. Finally, a little correction to what Etienne wrote: The MTX B737s are all FSX models but pre FSX SP1 SDK. So some updating is indeed necessary. Hope this adds to thoughts, kind regards Jaap
