ILS Feathers Plucked

Featured Replies

I love LNM. Have been using it for longer than I can remember. For the last few releases I have noticed a couple of things that don't work for me so I use an older LNM version instead.

The ILS feathers don't appear unless the "Show Airports" is also enabled. In past releases, the ILS feathers showed on my plan without the entire area airports enabled. On a old slow laptop it makes a difference.

During any one flight, the screen on my laptop goes pale white while the circle of hope appears. It seems LNM is trying to load something over the LAN but hangs up. This happens often and is very distracting.

If I replace LNM latest version with v2.8.10 that I have handy, these little quirks do not happen.

I changed this in a recent release. The feathers without airport do not make much sense IMO. See file changelog.txt or the release announcement where I write down all such changes.

This can happen if you access files across the LAN and the other computer is not accessible. Do use any unavailable shares in LNM? You can send me an issue report (menu "Tools") after such a freeze. Maybe I see something in the logs.

LNM converts settings and adapts databases when using a new version to keep compatibility. Going back to such an old version will mess up settings.

Thank you for the reply.

I admit I missed that part about the feathers not making sense without airports. I agree, they look funny when I zoom out and I knew to move my mouse to switch them off. Not a big deal. But they don't show on my destination airport until I turn on all airports, which slows down my resurrected-from-junk-parts laptop. That is definitely not LNM's problem and I'm OK with it.

I have recently changed my wireless settings and now have a better link to my main PC. Windows Networking - Gotta love it.

Anyway, I am trying the new LNM release today and will see what happens. Thanks again.

Related ILS shows only for the destination airport if an ILS approach is used. This even if all airports are off.

You are correct of course, the ILS feathers show when I insert the approach. I will get used to that. Thanks.

So far, an hour into a 2 hour flight, the new version of LNM has not gone ghost on me like it did before.

Thanks for all you do!
