MSFS 2024: helicopters

Featured Replies

Keeping my system free of the usual helis I have enjoyed so much the last few years and concentrating โ€“ for now โ€“ on just the H125 and Super Puma.

Both seem beautifully modelled, I appreciate little distractions like the ability to open hatches etc during the preflight. But cannot quite get me head around flying either of these in a satisfactory manner. Some helis in MSFS 2020 (Cabri, the B407 with the Simfocus mod <- important that, and the brilliant Taog UH-1 and Lama) are not too bad at all. I come from helicopters in X-Plane, which is pretty good at modelling the rotary wing flight dynamics; and of late some of the MSFS 2020 helis have โ€“ within reason โ€“ started feeling fairly good. I cannot quite say the same for the H125 (pity, I want to like it), yet. BUT this might just be my inability to fully dial in the controller profile.

What I am curious about is how to trim for cruise flight (yes, yes, I know that doesn't exist in real helicopters, but sitting with a sprung stick pushed forward is not my idea of fun when you have so much world to look atย ๐Ÿ™‚). 2020 allowed us to use elevator trim, but this has no effect in 2024. Anyone have any ideas for this (short of buying new controllers)?

Curious to hear the thoughts of others regarding heli flight in 2024. Regardless of whether it's default helicopters or third-party add-ons.
