February 19, 200818 yr Is there any way to lock the GPS's map so that the top of the screen always points North, not the actual direction the aircraft is heading? I know it's probably easier to see the map on screen as you would looking out the cockpit's windshield, but I prefer a north-south arrangement.IOW the airplane icon at the bottom wouldn't always point up, but rotate 360 and the map underneath it would remain fixed like a paper map.I'm trying to get used to using the Garmin GPS units as a moving map in the style of FSCommander. Thanks -
February 19, 200818 yr Moderator Set the map page to change the display orientation from "Track Up" to "North Up."When first loading the sim, the GPS will default to "Track Up" display. If you wish to change this behavior, you would need to edit the gps500.xml file contained in the fs9gps.cab file to set the macro value of NAVPageDflt to 1 instead of 0...1 Fr. February 20, 200818 yr Moderator Thanks! :)You know, I'd have thought that after all these years someone would have nominated me for an FS MVP*......I guess I just hang out on the wrong forums and newsgroups! :-xxrotflmao BTW, I did forget to add in my first reply that you would simply use the "Large Outer Knob" on the right side to change between the Track Up and North Up display pages.*N.B. http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/gp/mvpfaqs Fr.
