November 29, 20241 yr In msfs2020, PCL got better performance (fps/stutters) than Q3. Just the opposite is true in 2024. Quality control and chance of getting a good example instead of a bad one is higher with Q3 than a Pimax product. PCL has a better image (snappier colors, higher resolution, better clarity, absence of mura) than Q3. PCL has a wide sweet spot. Q3 is even better thanks to pancake lenses. Both are reliable in connecting every time. The PCL being especially good in that regard. Q3 has a wider range of IPD adjustment. But PCL is wider than most others. Q3 requires a 3rd party strap and counter weight. But is then still 1/2 the cost of PCL. Both have great software, but Q3 is best. There's a cheap version of the Q3 called Quest 3S. Don't buy it, it's junk in msfs. If you are going to have motion chair, wireless is better (Q3). I got a good example of a PCL. Due to the colors and clarity I would never give it up. The fps is good enough, even if it can't match Q3. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. November 29, 20241 yr Author At 15:00 he changes from TAA to DLSS and goes from about 42 to 54 fps with his 4090. On my 4070 and with a crystal light, I use DLSS and get about 37 fps. 4070 vs. 4090 and PCL vs Q3 is why I get so much less. I can't really use TAA with my hardware. I don't much care, but most people would care and are using glass screen GPS. You will need good hardware with the PCL. This was not true in 2020. The reason is that you can't run DX 11 in 2024 as he mentions early in the video. If not already invested, I would still order a PCL. I will live with lower fps and enjoy the snappier colors and vibrancy. His video images looks dull and drab to me, despite the smoothness. Local dimming, mini LED, 35 pixels per degree PPD makes for vibrant video image. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. November 29, 20241 yr Author 16:00 He turns on Q3 proprietary SSW and jumps to 89 fps. For low hardware systems, that's the whole ball game. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel.
