Help regarding AI Smooth

Featured Replies

Hi everyone! Just needed a help regarding AI Smooth v1.20 by Michael Sagner released for FSX which works well on FS9. I just wanted to know what are the best settings in order to make the AI traffic smooth and less congested especially in high traffic airports like RJAA, EHAM etc... Kindly anyone in this forum please share his/her settings (if anyone is using it for FSX then also you can share your settings)...

Thank you!

Hi!
I just saw your post... Sorry for the long delay in replaying.  These are the settings I've been using for a long time.  The thing it won't fix is AI aircraft jumping in front of you, or directly behind you, during landing approach.  (For that, I started using the "Traffic Zapper" function contained within FSUIPC "Buttons and Key" tab).

Distance of AI to Landing aircraft (NM):  6.00

Distance of User aircraft to AI (NM): 8.00

Heading range for intercept:  40 degrees

Global Approach Fix Distance (NM): 10.00

Minimum Separation Time:  90 sec

User plane Response:  Checked (though I question whether it does anything)

I don't show ATC messsages, and don't recall changing the other settings.

Best regards,
Kurt

Thanks for that! Will surely try the settings out and also see if I have traffic zapper function in my FSUIPC or not. Currently I am at my workplace, so I can't check it out now as my PC is not with me here. I will surely try it out soon...

Thank you once again!

Rupayan

Hi Rupayan,
I only learned about Traffic Zapper a couple months ago when I stumbled upon it in a forum.  It's been in FSUIPC for a long time, apparently.

Best regards,

Kurt

Hi Rupayan and Kurt

I've never used AI Smooth so I can't offer much help there.  I saw no point using AI Smooth because as Kurt mentions, Traffic Zapper in FSUIPC works good while on the ground, or if you need a gate spot opened up.

For situations where you're on final, I've assigned my space bar key to "Traffic density toggle" within FSUIPC.  If AI come near me on final, or I don't want to execute a go-around because of Al on the runway, I press the space bar key and all AI are gone.  One second later, I press the space bar key again and AI are all back, but have been reset.  AI Problem solved.

I also use the "Traffic density toggle" feature when flying IFR and when approaching my assigned altitude by ATC.  When you approach 250ft before your assigned altitude, sometimes ATC  is busy talking with other AI, and you're forced to level off.  I never found that realistic, so now when I approach that 250ft zone, and ATC is busy talking, I press the space bar key, all AI are gone, and ATC now immediately clears me higher.  No need to level off.

How to assign "Traffic density toggle" to your space bar using FSUIPC.
1.  Start FS2004.
2.  Open FSUIPC (Modules).
3.  Click on "Keys Presses" tab.
4.  Click on "set"
5.  Press the space bar key (or any other key you wish).
6.  Under "Control sent when keys pressed" select "Traffic density toggle".
7.  Press OK.

That should update the FSUIPC.ini file with:
[Keys]
1=32,8,1009,0

Do the same for Traffic Zapper.  I assigned the "Delete" key.
This updates FSUIPC.ini with:
2=46,8,1079,0

Instead of doing the steps above, you could also just open the "FSUIPC.ini" file, and under the [Keys] section add these lines:
[Keys]
1=32,8,1009,0
2=46,8,1079,0

Keep in mind, if you use those values in your FSUIPC.ini file, the Space bar will be assigned to "Traffic density toggle" and your delete key will be assigned to "Traffic Zapper".   If you want to use other keys, use the steps above.

Thank you very much for your help RJ... Will surely try it when I reach home!
