Autopilot question

Featured Replies

I made a VFR flightplan using the web based flight planner. I then started a Free flight in a C172 G1000. I loaded the flight plan to the avionics and if I click the FPL button I can see the flightplan text.

But when I turn on the autopilot it does not follow the loaded flight plan. I feel confident that there is something in the concept that I've missed and I'm not doing it correctly.

But regardless, I am asking for help in understanding how to get the G1000 autopilot to follow the loaded flight plan.

Thanks

I just watched a video from a while back it seems I forgot to ever hit the NAV button after turning on the autopilot.

Oooops, my bad 😞

Well so much for that. I just again with turning on the autopilot and then hitting the NAV button. I saw the GPS light come on but the plane did not make any correction and it was off course to the flight plan.

So I guess I still need some help. I have been watching videos but just don't have it quite down. I just want a way to create flight plan, load it into the plane, and get the autpil;ot to follow it. I am not a flyer so some of these activities are getting me a little confused.

Thanks again

Take off.

Stabilize your altitude and speed.

Press the AP button (usually located on or near the primary flight display).

Set the desired altitude using the ALT wheel.

Choose your ascent mode: VS or FLC.

Press the NAV button to have the aircraft follow the flight plan.

Use the HDG button to manually adjust the flight direction.

Thank you. Follow-up question: How to do change what image you see on the map on the right hand screen? I see videos where's there's different images present than what I'm seeing.
