XBOX LOGIN PROBLEM

When  I try to open ms2020 or 2024 A XBOX box shows up saying "Let's get you signed in".  When I try to sign in it gives the option to use E-mail, phone, or skype.  The problem is that there is no blinking cursor so I cant select "email" or anything .   When I go to my XBOX app, it shows that it is open so I guess they mean my Microsoft account.  Don't know how to tie it all together - how to access my Microsoft account to work as part of the sign in.  Hope I've made it clear enough, but I'm old with fewer brain cells.  Thanks for any guidance.
