Question on cockpit views.

Featured Replies

In FS9, when I hit the W key and dropped the cockpit panel down, it would cycle from full cockpit to just a couple of gauges, then to nothing. When I do this in FSX and select no panel / gauges view, then look around, I still see some of the cockpit ( door etc ). How do I get a "clean" view when looking around when I dont have the panel selected?I hope I explained that right.TurnipSPECS:VISTA Home Basic 580 WATT Sunbeam PowerCrucial Ballistix 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAMASUS P5N-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 Conroe 2.33GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80557E6550MSI nVidia NX8800GT 512 PCI-E 2.0SB LIVE 24250 GB WD SATA HD 120 GB WD IDE HD

Turnip,You may restore to default installation without SP1 if it's that important. This VC cabin away from the front view is a "feature" of SP1. You could also fly add-ons that don't have a VC or use a custom camera located outside of the aircraft to achieve the full bird's-eye-view. Loyd

Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro

OK, so what you are saying then is that if a plane has a VC and I am running SP2, I cannot get rid of the cockpit?TurnipSPECS:VISTA Home Basic 580 WATT Sunbeam PowerCrucial Ballistix 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAMASUS P5N-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 Conroe 2.33GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80557E6550MSI nVidia NX8800GT 512 PCI-E 2.0SB LIVE 24250 GB WD SATA HD 120 GB WD IDE HD

Eliminating seeing the airplane we are flying used to be a favorite for many of us when we wanted to get a good look at scenery in FS9 and the original FSX. This ability was eliminated by SP1. I find the best alternative is to go to spot view.

Although the "no cockpit" view has been removed ... there is an alternative.Hit Ctrl-Backspace. This will move you forward in the cockpit (Ctrl-Enter will move you back again). You can move all the way out in front of the cockpit, effectively removing it from your view. This will allow you to fly with no cockpit obstruction or glass reflections.
