SP1 Tweaks in FSX.CFG & Dark Nights & White Clouds?

Featured Replies

Hi,I am wondering if someone can help with the following questions.(1) I cant seem to find the extra SP1 "functionality" in my fsx.cfg file. Once I finally found it in Vista (thanks for previous post from Jim Karn) I opened it up but couldnt see any of the extra items described by Phil Taylor here(http://blogs.msdn.com/ptaylor/archive/2007/05/15/new-tweaks-in-sp1.aspx). I have confirmed that I have installed SP1 via FSX but there is no show on things like SWAP_WAIT_TIMEOUT;DAY_THRESHOLD etc?(2) The reason I wanted to tweak fsx.cfg was to try and make the nights darker. It didnt seem that realistic to be able to see individual fields from 5000ft at midnight! Searching on forum posts the recommendation is to tweak NIGHT_THRESHOLD. But that apparently only effect the "amount of 'ambient' light at the ends of the day/night blend threshold". Any other tips or does tweaking threshold work for you?(3) I have just bought Active Sky X/X Graphics and although enjoying the extra functionality it got me thinking. When I have been flying (in real world) when you break through a layer of overcast the thing that strikes me is the "whiteness" of the clouds. The clouds are good when flying underneath but when you go topside they dont have that brightness I would expect to see in reality. Is it a function of the textures, video card technology, FSX ???Thanks for any help you can provideGary
