I need some advice after reinstall

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, I just did a clean reinstall of FSX, then SP1, followed by SP2. At this point I am not sure if I need to tweak anything to get the best from my modest system. It has been so long for me, now I have no idea where to look or are things going to work the way they are without improvement?? I just brought the Nemeth EC135 and it runs pretty crappy on my system, so anything to squeeze out some fps would be great. You help is most appreciated if anyone can help. Thanks so much. :)Warmest regards everyone :)

Jeff,You haven't really provided enough information for an exhaustive reply, but I can tell you that you and I have similar rigs, and I get way better performance than you are reporting. This suggests several things:a) We're not flying in the same area:( We're not using the same Scenery Settingsc) You're flying a non-default possibly more complex aircraftThere are a LOT of variables when it comes to performance. You can make your rig fly 34FPS, or 8FPS with just a few setting changes. If your goal is to test out your new setup, then avoide the 3PD aircraft for now and stick to the default until you've built up a good baseline for what performance you should expect in the areas where you normally fly.Stay the heck away from JFK and airports like it in highly complex scenery areas. Your machine just isn't gonna display those areas well. Move your sliders to the left: nothing above 25%, nothing above "Normal", no bells/whistles like bloom or self-shadowing.Fly around for a few days getting a feel for what your rig can and can't do; this way, when you are flying a 3PD aircraft that maybe isn't designed as well as it could be relative to performance, you'll have a baseline of "feeling" that should indicate to you where problems lie.You have plenty of machine to fly FSX ... but not top-of-the-line bells and whistles FSX.Cheers,

Hi Kevin,Thanks for your reply. I've been around the default KSEA area for the most part. I will check my settings later today and report back, but I may have a couple of the settings like scenery at dense, not at normal. I'll take a look. I've never cranked things up too much on this rig to begin with knowing what FS9 was capable of. Thanks again. :)
