January 19, 20251 yr I guess the question is best placed among simmers, instead of looking for typical gaming headset. I am playing ambient sounds via speakers, which I do tend to play loud-ish. BeyondATC in the headset. The issue: BATC doesn't understand me at a moderate external levels. So looking for a headset good for ATC, with a mic that will also work with surround noise as good as it possibly can, halfway good sound for ATC, music not really required. I also don't want it to much block the external sound, which is a bit a moot point, since IRL, pilots tend to have headsets that just do exactly that, but I want to retain situational awareness. Current headset Jabra Evolve 75.
January 19, 20251 yr You might try reducing the gain on the microphone in your current headset. And if it has a selectable AGC, turn that off as well. Since you're going for comms only and not high-fidelity ambient sound, a lightweight headset with foam earpieces and a noise-cancelling boom mike like the Logitech H111 (about $12 on Amazon) would probably answer the mail.
