Use PC version store purchased MSFS on console FREE

As you know a PC desktop version of msfs 2020 or 2024 purchased from the Xbox Store will then install free onto a series X or S Xbox game console.

But you have to use the same Microsoft PC desktop account email and password on the console too.

Boot up the console and there are 3 icons (or more). One is for your console account you already have. Another is for a new player. And a third is for playing without any account. Let's say your account email and password is different on the console than your desktop. Then use icon for the "new player" to set up the console to be run using your PC desktop email and password. This is not obvious from the instruction words which appear on the screen, but it is what you want to do.  By typing in your PC desktop Microsoft Xbox email and password using the "new player" icon, the console now knows what you own on your desktop version. And when you now go to the "store" on your console you will find your version of whichever MSFS that you own on the PC is now listed as "Owned" on the console store listings. So you just click on the download and it installs on the console, Free All of your settings in the desktop version will be the same on the console.

If you have purchased your copy of MSFS 2020 or 2024 from a MS partner, such as CDKeys, you don't need the "key" if you already have the partner purchased MSFS installed on your PC desktop. You only needed the key for when you installed it on the desktop.

This all may seem obvious, but the words that appear on the TV screen when you do this is confusing. The main thing is when you install the game on the console to use the "new player" icon and put your PC version email and password in the boxes. That's the only way to get credit for previous ownership.
