How To Link Columns & Yokes

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I have just dismantled my 737 SIMULATOR and I’m about to rebuild. However this time I have a major problem; SPACE. I am rebuilding in my apartment & I can’t build a raised floor. I’m using a FDS MIP so I can’t use desk mounted Yokes.

In my previous build the Yokes went below the floor and were linked with cable and a bar joining the two, this time I’m restricted to putting my yolks on the floor. The Yokes were from 737Yoke.com who no longer exist.

These yokes were designed to sit on top of the floor but we modified them to use under the floor.

Is it possible to connect 2 x yokes at once to Flightsim P3D (2 x USB cables). If not possible could the two yolks have the USB cables selected with a switch, with the Windows game controller lose connectivity and need recalibrating again with the cable being switched to?

i’m wondering if anyone has experience with linking above the floor Yokes/Columns?

You can connect multiple joystick devices simultaneously in P3D--I believe the sim will respond to the most recent position change on either device.  In a scenario where only one device is in active use and the other not changing it's input value (e.g. centered), it works fine.  Best to have a sufficiently large null zone so that small spurious inputs aren't made from the device not in active use, which would result in the control inputs rapidly oscillating between the values coming from the two different joysticks..

It's also possible to programmatically control how the joystick axes are seen by P3D by capturing the control inputs in FSUIPC and writing a program or lua script to process the multiple inputs and re-inject the processed value into the sim.  I did this some years back to give the capt-side controls priority over the copilot side when moved or when an override button was pressed.  You can devise your own rules/control mechanism, that way.
