Create a throttle minimum and cutoff?

I just started messing around with the FlySimWare Sierra C24R and I noticed that it has a throttle where if you drop the engine RPM below a certain value it shuts stuff off due to not enough electrical. I keep hitting that value when I descend and lower power or during landing. Is there a way to make it so the throttle behaves like it has a cutoff stop? Like the Lear where if I push the throttle forward it goes forward fine but once passing a certain point I can't go back below that value unless I press a button to drop the throttle to zero like a cutoff. My scripting skills are pretty weak still so was just wondering if anyone has solved this kind of issue. Thanks!

Which throttle event did you assign to what kind of hardware in what simulator? There isn't "the throttle" in this context. There are at least four different events to control it, and it is entirely possible that the developer is using some kind of input event instead, that wouldn't display this behavior in the first place.

In the classic world of "AXIS_THROTTLEn_SET" and "THROTTLEn_AXIS_SET_EX1"

  • Activate "Tools->Axis advanced mode" in AAO
  • This will change the layout of the axis panels, and you can see the actual value that is being sent to the sim event.
  • Position the lever "just so" it doesn't cut off. Write down the value shown in the throttle axis panel.
  • Now doubleclick the axis and set "Axis min" to that value using the mouse wheel
  • Save

Now the axis will never go below that minimum value. 

If you need the range below that value too, create another assignment to the same throttle event, set Axis Max to the written-down value from above and assign a Combo button. Pull the two assignments apart using the blue triangles, so they don't overlap. You will have to press the button for both directions in that lower "detent".

If your TQ has a cutoff detent, like the Honecomb Bravo, then you could assign this button in AAO as the "cutoff" too by assigning the same throttle event and the actual minimum value (or use one of the separate "THROTTLEn_CUT" events to for throttles)

As a third option you could also just create a software detent in AAO in the location of the cutoff point. That would give you more time to catch the engine shutting down. A detent is a region where while you move the lever AAO will always send the same value. Position your lever just above the cutoff point and right click into the light grey bar on the axis panel. A dark grey region will appear, signifying the detent. The size of the detent can be changed with the mouse wheel, and you can delete it by right clicking it again. In "Axis advanced mode" you also have the "RAW" button with finer control over detents and margins.

It's a Virpil throttle. So I can create software detents (virtual buttons that fire at certain % throttle) - I just won't feel it as I pass through them. I can 3D print a custom physical detent but I'm trying to keep it as plane agnostic as possible. What you've provided is great direction and will work fine (like the combo button approach). Thanks a ton.
