I'm new to FSX, but a veteran of FS9. Is there a preferred set of ground textures? Any better than others? Advice solicited.

GEX USA/Canada is the way to go for North America.

And the best is FTX for two regions of Australia (so far). This also includes custom autogen, improved coastlines and landclass, with 130+ freeware airports and freeware mesh available.Worth a look, even if you only fly in the US or Europe, if only to see what can be achieved in FSX without reducing frame rates. For me this is simple. GEX Enhanced for North America. Period. Buy it. It transforms North America.
