NVIDIA's GTX 1080 GPU is twice as fast the Titan X $599 May 27
phoenixphire replied to Silverbird's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcYou are probably right. I need to "keep mine off the books" and pay cash cause my wife doesn't know I have money squirled away for it. I am not that worried she has her own stash. This means I have to wait for stock to arrive at my local retailer.

phoenixphire replied to Silverbird's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcI have been reading about Pascal for a year now. I have enough saved up plus my VR arrives in July. The news about enhancing VR is very good news.

I was so ready to enjoy my Oculus Rift CV1 with Prepar3D
Well this is good news then. Since the beginning of flightsimming many years a go I have always locked at 20FPS and always had smooth flight. And that is with pmdg, activesky, airports, rex, photoscenery My Rift is coming in July and I will be getting the new Nvidia Pascal card when it comes out. If it does not run smooth I won't be disappointed and move forward with new simulators that utilize the technology more efficiently.

Airfrance Paris to Le Mans
I agree with that the OP's France VFR looks outstanding. I am sure that the developer focus their energy on a small area at a time. Which is why it looks so amazing. I don't fly to France enough to justify the cost. I tend to fly long haul into an international airport. Looking at the current offering for Charles DeGaulle it looks like it needs a serious refresh. This keeps me out of France. Developers are doing some big European airports like Schipol and Frankfurt I would love to see CDG.

Airfrance Paris to Le Mans
John, not sure if you meant that all you are missing for Central Europe or that MSE doesn't have a product for France or Germany. Just in case you are not aware MSE does have Germany. Unfortunately It is not very good in my opinion. I am eagerly waiting France as well. I believe that MSE made a post about a year back about two surprise sceneries. Not long after that announcement they released Germany. Since then they haven't released a big scenery. I may have missed something but I wouldn't be surprised if France is in the pipeline. Anyway, you may know this already.

Additional vapour trails below airccraft
I don't think this is a PrecipitFX issue. I have seen this issue for years with ActiveSky. Are you running a 3rd party weather engine? If you alt+enter out of FSX end ActiveSky it should go away. I am not sure what causes it.
- FlyTampa Updates Kai Tak and Montreal airports - Outstanding!

Stabilizer problems
I am having the same issue and it has only occurred since the switch to P3D3. I am going to look at some of the suggestions in this thread.

GRID HEADING + CHRONO BUG
Is there any update to this issue? Is this realistic behavior in the real aircraft or a bug? Sorry to resurrect an old thread.

Do clouds move with the wind?
Speed them up. It looks like a timelapse video. Pretty cool.

Anyone tried Florida 4X?
I have followed that discussion and a lot of it is technical in nature by some very knowledgeable people. I have a simple method, if I like what I see then I am happy. I had purchased Florida 2.0 so I got a 50% off 4x. I was not that happy with the coloring of the previous version and I find that 4x is an improvement.

CTD After 1.6 update in Prepar3D v.3
Perfect. Resolved. Probably due to rushing through the readme!

Anyone tried Florida 4X?
I just installed and did a quick fly around in the F22. Great for getting around and looking at scenery quickly. I also did a proper flight in the NGX. It looks great. My main concern is that there is not a lot of banding at high altitude and different colors of areas. Some of MegaScenery's other states had these issues. The color and banding does not seem to be an issue and ewvery thing seems to blend well. I have quite a few ultra cities and I can't really tell the difference between 4x and ultrares at low altitude. I may buy a few other important states like New York if it has a 50% off because I find the banding g in that state terrible. Since I am a tubliner, I will probably stick with what I have since I have made a sizable investment in photo scenery.

ASN Service Update Open Beta for P3d v3
I figured out that it was a user issue. Prepar3D must not be running when you update the folder locations. So in case others are reading this thread trying to figure out how to make AS work with P3D3, hopefully you will learn from my mistake.

Prepar3D v.3 Nvidia 3D Vision Support
I asked this in the P3D forum as well but I was wondering if anyone had any info on whether there will be Nvidia 3D Vision support for P3D v.3? Thanks in advance

[28SEP15] Prepar3D v3 Approach Clearance!
Robert, I am glad to here this news from you. It helps cut through all the BS that tends to boil over when something like this is released. I have been shutting the sim down and reloading on long hauls, which I loath, too many OOM's or low frame rates on approach. I hope this will solve the VAS issues.

PMDG 737 +++
I won't bother mentioning all the great addons listed already. I would however add that I am also using an iPad for the CDU as well as a Surface pro for all my charts and it has greatly enhanced my experience. I also use a GoFlight MCP pro which greatly enhances the sim. I would do anything to go the home cockpit route, but alas, I simply do not have the money for it. Plus I love long haul as well which would mean a 777, 747, 787 cockpit. :Praying: I realize I have strayed outside of the boundary of the discussion by adding hardware but I think that when having a conversation about realism its very relevant.
-
Wait for 3.0 before buying new addons?
Its hard to say since no one but you really knows what you can afford and how much you want the addons. I don't think the upgrades will cost all that much and I bet that many will be free. I think the bigger factor is the release date. Once V3 is released it could take a long time for developers to update their products to be compatible with V3. So who knows how long it could be. There are some addons I can't live without so until developers like PMDG and HiFi (activesky) are compatible, I will be holding off.

Virtual Cockpit Colors, is There a Mod?
I thought that I would make some observations regarding this issue. I recently reinstalled P3D and the NGX and I noticed a significant change in the color of both the NGX and the 777 panels. I am not sure why that is, but the textures looked much darker than they did before. I also enabled HDR and found that the textures looked remarkably better. Additionally, I boosted the texture resolution to 4096x4096 which made a huge difference in the over realism. The textures before looked very cartoonish and the cockpit looked way too blue. I am happy with the result. Thanks to those who helped.

FSUIPC Forgets Key Assignments in P3D
Now things are getting even weirder. On a PANC-VHHH flight half way through I went to adjust the time that FSUIPC autosaves and the FSUIPC tab is missing from the menu. Maybe I should delete my configuration file and build a new one. The autosave has been cussing very long pauses upon every save. It did not do this before and all this has surfaced in the last couple of weeks. Not to mention that GSX has stopped working as well. î

FSUIPC Forgets Key Assignments in P3D
Plus it will probably be a while before all of our "must have" addons are updated to work with the new version. Which means being stuck with these issues for awhile.
