May 18, 20251 yr Did a sim flight today from Sao Tome to Luanda in the F27 (Flyingtaks infuriatingly good F27). Really gave the clouds and weather a really good try out - heavy Atlantic equatorial weather (CB's etc etc) The F27 has the default Laminar Bendix Weather Radar Installed but has never done anything I have noticed before. Well out in Equatorial Africa this morning with some pretty amazing clouds and weather the Weather Radar screen came alive and displayed pretty accurate weather compared to outside on the screen. Kept doing it without issues (Well you cant control anything else on the screen but it is displaying weather patterns accurately. Either I never noticed this or this a sly test implementation? Looks pretty good!
May 18, 20251 yr Author Most curious, the instrument in the VC started painting on the ground at Sao Tome and all the way through to Luanda in Angola, flight duration was in excess of 5 hours. Full ITCZ instability and weather - CB's widespread frontal style cloud, multiple layers. The colours may not have been totally correct but was able to use it to navigate around CB's and stay in relatively less difficult weather. Screen display matched outside sky. Seems the failure menu has changed- no blanket on/off but long drop down menu. Caught out with prop shaft failure - engine spooled down but would not feather and could not be restarted. So did half the flight on 1 engine as well. Curious to see this one item selected on the menu. FPS all over the place - very inconsistent - bad on ground, went up with flight, actually increased in high level cloud and weather and generally sat about 30 FPS no stutters or lag just throttled back FPS. Tried all the usual fudges, scenery-cloud-shadow-vegetation density etc - seems something else is choking the sim.
