May 23, 20251 yr I'm being driven to distraction by an issue that has only manifested itself in the past couple of days. It coincides with me joining Beta 3 but it might not be linked, just a coincidence. I have a Galaxy G9 OLED monitor and normally have both HDR and Auto HDR enabled in Windows. This works fine with Steam games like Snowrunner. Enabling HDR in MSFS2024 results in a very washed out picture so I leave HDR off in the sim. However the weirdest thing is now happening, when I click the side buttons on my mouse (which control the volume level) my OLED screen brightens noticeably for about 3 seconds before returning to normal. I have a 2 monitor setup and even if I shift focus away from MSFS2024 I still get the temporary increase in brightness. No other software seems to be affected by this oddity. I have searched high and low in the bowels of the sims settings and looked everywhere in the mouse bindings and can't find anything that explains why those buttons are having this impact. Do any of the gurus on here have any idea what on earth is going on please? AMD 9800x3d, 64 GB 6000 RAM, RTX5090, 2 x NVME, 2 x ssd Win11 Monitor 1 Samsung G9 5120x1440 Monitor 2 Samsung 3440x1440
May 23, 20251 yr Is exposure set to 2.00.in graphics settings? Try it to 0.00? May 23, 20251 yr Author I've tried various settings using the new Exposure feature over the past few weeks but whatever I use it has no impact on the temporary screen brightening phenomenon! One thing I should add is that if I switch HDR off in Windows the problem goes way Edited May 23, 20251 yr by Riddlesdenlad AMD 9800x3d, 64 GB 6000 RAM, RTX5090, 2 x NVME, 2 x ssd Win11 Monitor 1 Samsung G9 5120x1440 Monitor 2 Samsung 3440x1440

May 23, 20251 yr Author I think I've found a fix! Poking around in Windows I noticed that you can change how long Notifications appear for. Changed it to 30 seconds and sure enough, using the volume buttons on the side of my mouse caused the screen brightness increase to last 30 seconds before going back to normal. Turning off all notifications has cured the problem! Not actually found a Notification setting that's linked to volume and HDR but just happy to have got to the bottom of it.
