July 3, 2025Jul 3 Hi Fly in supporting the Mirpuri Foundation campaign “Save the Coral Reefs” painted its A380 aircraft with a special-themed livery, aiming to reinforce worldwide the message of sustainability and protection of the seas. The airline joined the project in cooperation with Mirpuri Foundation, Hi Fly’s principal sustainability partner. AkzoNobel provided the design livery to personalize the project. The chosen aircraft was an Airbus A380-800, the biggest commercial aircraft in the world, which is now painted on both sides, one side in dark blue displaying destroyed corals contrasting with a light blue side representing a pristine ocean with colourful and healthy marine life. The A380 with the painted message "Save the Coral Reefs" completed an around the world mission that lasted four days, starting and ending in Beja, Portugal. Airbus A380 joined Hi Fly’s fleet in 2018. Hi Fly was the 4th European airline and the 14th global operator to fly this magnificent aircraft, becoming also the first wet leasing airline operating an A380 and inaugurating its second hand market. We use the FlyByWire A380 in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 to fly the short hop from Antigua to Guadeloupe covering 88nm in support of this "Save the Coral Reefs" campaign.
