FSX Vs. FS2004

Recommended Posts

Hello Krishan,I have very low end hardware; my computer will soon be 7 years old. Only 512 MB of RAM and an old GeForce FX5200. I have never had any major problem with FS X, but then I do not push it to the limit, or much at all. So, it is really not about having good hardware, but about what you will do with the game. Different situations will stress the hardware differently, or not at all. However, even with a reasonably powerful computer, you should be able to have very nice flights of any kind.Just don't listen to self-proclaimed experts who advise all sorts of performance "tweaks" that do nothing in particular.Good luck.Best regards.Luis

LuisI agree in part with you, so many so called tweaks that I tried with fs9.cfg did bugger all, so I reinstalled it the last time and have not touched it and it works fine.As for h/w, well, better h/w will make a difference in fps, but not nec. stop stutters, stutters and fs9 when you have add-ons seem to always be something to expect at times. I really only get stutters on the ground and that is after adding traffic 2005.krishan

One big advantage FSX has over FS9 are the Missions. They are good for rookie sim pilots as well as for advanced pilots.Jeff ShylukAssistant Managing EditorSenior Staff ReviewerAVSIM

>hi RTH>>It seems that generally, the benifit of FSX is texture>quality. Stutters seem to depend on everyone's own system,>there doesn't seem to be a clear winner one way of the other.>I find FSX to stutter less than FS9. I think you'll find most people have seen the same thing.FSX seems smoother, more fluid to me.FS9 delivers more raw framerate.RhettFS box: E8500 (@ 3.80 ghz), AC Freezer 7 Pro, ASUS P5E3 Premium, BFG 8800GTX 756 (nVidia 169 WHQL), 4gb DDR3 1600 Patriot Cas7 7-7-7-20 (2T), PC Power 750, WD 150gb 10000rpm Raptor, Seagate 500gb, Silverstone TJ09 case, Vista Ultimate 64ASX Client: AMD 3700+ (@ 2.6 ghz), 7800GT
