Cannot load new scripts

Featured Replies

Hi, from a couple of days ago I cannot load any new script or update existing ones. I receive no error message and the small screen that shows the group to be loaded does not appear. It simply closes the open file dialog box and that's all. How can I debug or find out why is this happening?

Thanks,

Can't say I've heard that one before. Are you certain that you are trying to load a script file and not mixing it up with something else?

Errors would be logged in the AAO logfiles - see AAO manual, chapter about "Config files, database and log files"

I'm as shocked as you. I've loaded dozens of scripts into AAO. I've created a video: AAO-Scripts.mkv. It leaves no log in the log folder.

UPDATE: Exporting all scripts makes the program exit. This is also new for me, I've made backups of all my scripts several times.

I think that maybe I've edited badly some script in the script editor and now this provokes a fail in import/export operation, could it be?

Do not connect AAO to the sim when importing scripts (it was a mistake on my part to allow you to do this. In the next version import will be disabled again while you are connected to the sim).

And do not keep the script editor open, AAO will not update the lists etc. after the import anyway.

No, unless the script database itself is broken - but then you wouldn't even see any scripts anywhere.

There is an issue with Windows messing up the AAO app configuration, with the consequence that AAO cannot read XML files anymore (but then nothing would work, no scripts, no aircraft configs, nothing). This can usually be fixed by deleting the app config here: "\AppData\Local\LWR"

What changed? Something must have happened at some point?

If you haven't tried too many times, you can go back to a previous generation of the database file(s) - same chapter in the AAO manual

Yes, the LAAO_Startup_log.txt is created when the program starts, and the LAAO_log_xxxxxx.txt is created when it is connected to MSFS. But importing or exporting leaves no trace there. If I try to import before starting MSFS no log is created, just the startup log.

I've made a zip with both files after trying to import and export (this one makes the program exit): LorbyAxisAndOhsMSFS24.zip

Well, some scripts. I could not tell exactly how many of them. Yes I have a backup of all scripts made on july  11th, but I cannot load it!

I've recovered an old copy of my scripts by renaming the UserScripts_MSFS2024_n.xml files. I've got 6 of them, back to july 2nd, and none of them allow me to load any new or existing script.  Also I cannot export any.

Yes, this worked! After deleting those files I've been able to load scripts again. I've recovered my July 11th backup and now everything is normal. Maybe a Windows update?

Thanks for your help!!!
