Question for Nick N about XP sp3

Recommended Posts

Nick, I was wanting to know your take on XP sp3. Is it needed? Do you advise going to sp3? If so would that have any effect on the Windows XP tune-up that I did? Thanks, Jim WPS. How is Europe going?

Jim - NIck will give you a more informed answer but as one whoi followed his XP setup to the letter and then installed SP3 and then did the setup again - I saw no impact either way. Results were pretty much the same before and after.HTH,VicQ9650 E0 CPU 3.0 o/c 4.06Asus Rampage Formula X48 2G XP2-8500 DDR2 1066FSB Mushkin 996535 RAM 5-5-5-12-2T1-74G Raptor - XP System1-74G Raptor - Data1-320G 7200 - Programs 1-150G Raptor - FSX 1-500G 7200 HD for backup SATA DVD burner Evga 8800GTS 640 PCIx XG 174.74 702/1620/792Kandalf LCS case w/ built in liquid cooling 850W Thermaltake power supplyHannsG 28" 1920x1200Viewsonic 22" 1680x1050http://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-supporter-sigbanner.jpg

No performance gains or losses.. its mostly a combined package of updates that were released after SP2 with a few changes to networking and the Genuine Advantage system
