hi i am just wondering why is there so many big delays going in and out of heathrow the biggest i saw was united flight to lax ment to go at 12 but was still delayed at 8.30pm so does anyone no why there are these big delays thanks in advancejimmer

Yes, welcome to the world of trans-atlantic summer flying. I once took UAL 919 from EGLL to KIAD scheduled to depart at noon and didn't get off the ground until after 21:30 that night. Problem was the pilot "work slow down" at the time; not enough pilots to go around and those that were working were quickly exceeding their max flying time. I suspect the reason that you are seeing delays now is that Ascot, Wimbledon, The Around the Isle of Wight regatta, and the left overs from the Paris Air Show, all took place or are starting up last week and this weekend. I just hope it clears by Wednesday when I do UAL 919 again!
