November 25, 2025Nov 25 Had a bit of problem with my FS2024 desktop icons (one regular, one fast start) after the 2024 SU3 update. Created some new ones directly from my installation but the first try didn't start FS2024. After searching i found that i now seem to have 2 FS2024 installations which are the same but where only one seems to work. I have: E:\WindowsApps\Microsoft.Limitless_1.5.27.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe which doesn't work, i'm not able to start FS2024 from the FlightSimulator2024.exe that sits inside that directory. and E:\XboxGames\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\Content which does work, clicking the FlightSimulator2024.exe from that dir starts the sim. I guess somehow the SU3 update installed FS2024 in another location (XBoxGames) on the same drive). What's weird is that both installs are the same and carry the same installation date. The XBoxGames folder (with only 2024 in it) however is older then the WindowsApps folder but the FlightSimulator2024.exe from the XBoxGames folder is the one that works. Safe to manually delete the WindowsApps one? Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. November 26, 2025Nov 26 Author Digged a bit further this morning. The WindowsApps directory is a symbolic junction. So not safe to delete to the directory in the XBoxGames dir. Not safe to delete because renaming the WindowsApps dir results in no game start.
