Great pilot loses life in crash

Featured Replies

Sad news to report the untimely death of a great local seaplane pilot and his passenger. He was a fixture on the Willamette River in his 1941 Taylorcraft float plane. His pilot's credentials were quite impressive so I'm posting the article from the Oregonian Newspaper to give his full history. A really great loss for the flying community.Floatplane plunges into river, killing 2, including a noted pilotIt's not clear who was flying the 1941 Taylorcraft when it went down near Willamette FallsSunday, July 29, 2007JOSEPH ROSEThe Oregonian StaffDavid Howard Wiley and his 1941 Taylorcraft floatplane were giants of the water and the air along the Willamette River. In the single-engine two-seater, the 80-year-old pilot, mechanic and instructor taught generations of dreamers how to be fliers.EDIT: You can't copy and paste an entire article to the forums. That is copyright infringement. Please do not do that again.

Sorry about that, wasn't thinking. Here's the link to the Oregonian Newspaper for all those who wish to read about him. Just do a search for David Howard Wiley on the home page. http://www.oregonlive.com/oregonian/Kim
