January 8Jan 8 Hi ladies and gents... Doing my second ever flight with this bird... There was an update to it today that I downloaded and I keep having VNAV issues. Relatively short flight - PAJN to KSEA, so it's not too heavy - loaded per SimBrief. FL390 was difficult to achieve, it seemed to stop climbing almost altogether after about FL330. FLCH didn't do the trick either. N1 was only at 86% or so. LNAV/VNAV were engaged. I climbed up there in VS mode but the airspeed got a little too low for my liking and was approaching the yellow zone, so I disengaged the AT with the two switches on the MCP and manually moved the throttles forward to try to catch up to the profile target speed. That eventually happened, but now every time to re-engage the AT is not working. Literally no indication on PFD on top where it usually specifies the mode. I can move the throttle manually up and down and it changes the thrust accordingly, but the AT functionality seems to have been lost. I have checked Failures and there are no current failures, so that's not it either. I don't fly the 777 often and I am not as familiar with it as the 737... Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?
January 8Jan 8 Author My bad, I am an word not allowed. Like I said, not used to the 777. There is an AT button on the MCP that needs to be activated for it to re-engage. The switches simply arm it.
January 9Jan 9 It is a recurring pattern. The flight guidance systems on modern airliners are very complex, and there is a reason why even seasoned pilots train for MONTHS when transitioning from one aircraft to the other. I realize that real men don´t read instructions, and if you just have an hour to fly, you don´t want to spend that reading manuals or watching YouTube tutorials - but sometimes this can be done in other situations, like when working out or at work (while the boss isn´t watching) and then when you get home, you are going to enjoy your short hours of simming even more! A last piece of advice: When you are having a problem with a payware aircraft, it really pays to visit/post on the official support forums, because that is where other users of that aircraft will post and often, if there REALLY is a problem with that aircraft, you will be able to find out about it.
