Around the Black Sea - Part I

Featured Replies

This is the first flight of a tour around the Black Sea.

We depart from Burgas (LBBS), Bulgaria. The city is a major port on the Black Sea coast, renowned for its stunning lakes and proximity to the Strandzha Mountains. Our first stop is Varna (LBWN), often referred to as the "Maritime Capital of Bulgaria." Varna is a key port, naval base, and seaside resort. It's home to the oldest gold treasure in the world, the Varna Necropolis Gold.

We make a short stop at Tuzla (LRTZ) and continue to Constanta (LRCK), Romania. Constanta is Romania's largest seaport. It is a city rich in history, dating back over 2,500 years, and a key commercial and cultural hub. We continue and reach Cataloi (LRTC), close to the city of Tulcea in the Danube Delta. Now we turn inland and make a short stop at Artsiz (UKAZ), Moldova, before making a detour to Chișinău (LUKK), Moldova.

It is the capital and largest city of Moldova. It is the country's main industrial and commercial center, known for its green spaces and Soviet-era architecture interspersed with modern development. From here, we turn back toward the Black Sea. We reach Ukraine and land at Odesa (UKOO). The city is a major port city on the northwestern shore of the Black Sea and the third-largest city in Ukraine. It is famous for its architecture, including the Potemkin Stairs, and its historical role as a trade hub.

We finish this flight at Mykolaiv (UKON), a shipbuilding center. It plays a crucial role in Ukraine's maritime industry.

The flight is 440 miles long with 7 landings. The flight plans are here.

We want to cruise at about 250 knots. The PC-12, CJ4, ot the King Air are suitable choices. I will probably be in the BlackSquare Starship. Please fly what you like.

Additional scenery:

Burgas LBBG

Varna LBWN

Tuzla LRTZ

Constanta LRCK

Cataloi LRTC

Chișinău LUKK

Mykolaiv UKON

Burgas, Varna, and Chisinau are available as payware from ORBX. If you own Burgas from AG Sim, please note that the scenery includes a DC-3 “Balkan” livery, which, on my computer, prevented the scenery from loading.

We try real weather. Please set your simulator for a 1 pm departure.
