January 30Jan 30 After recently trying out the Asobo scenery ordering tool and found it to be a ridiculous tool that I honestly can’t believe any software engineer would deem it worthy for use in an otherwise excellent product. Some of the issues: 1. UI — why a slider checkbox state for it to appear as a floating window (not consistent with any other part of the MSFS 2024 UI)? 2. I click on the down arrow to move a scenery down the order and nothing happens? Click it again and it moves down one spot. Click it again and nothing, click again and nothing, click 3rd time and moves down 20 spots and the list doesn’t scroll to where it moved leaving thinking it was somehow deleted? Click the down arrow seems entirely random of where the item may end up, sometimes moves 4 spots, sometimes 8 sport, sometimes 20 spots. 3. The scroll bar can actually move the entire Ordering window header/title bar out of screen view so I can’t close the window. I have to use the scroll bar to get the header/title area in view so I can close the window? 4. No drag and drop operation, so if I have a entry at row 20 that needs to move to bottom around row 120, I have to just click and follow A LOT. It seems this Asobo tool was clearly an afterthought, and a really bad afterthought with not much thought at all put into it. My questions: a. Where is the file that manages scenery ordering? b. Any good tools to manage this file that works with symbolic links? No offense Asobo, you do some really great things that unfortunately get dragged down by some really junior grade UI … please hire a dedicated UI person. January 30Jan 30 Author I found MSFS AddOn Linker tool but the developer indicated it does NOT support MSFS 2024 SU4 additional folder structure. Still searching … (payware or freeware, doesn’t matter to me). Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. - Carl Sagan
