February 10Feb 10 Hello: I have just started using AAO with a 'new' Virpil Throttle and Joystick. As I do not "see" any of the available switches and axis, am I to presume that I need to add the switches and axis one at a time? Or, is there a way to put them into a data file which can be read by AAO? And, more importantly, has someone already created such a file or am I the first person to attempt to use these controls in AAO? Update: I have found an "Add Button Assignment" panel which includes both Virpil Controls but is there a way to assign a local variable to a switch so that I can use it to control functions. The panel requires me to assign an event to it rather than just create a variable with it.

In general, that is not how AAO works. You create a new button assignment, select what you want to assign to the control, and then just press the button or move the axis. If AAO can see the device and the control that you are actuating, it will appear automatically. There is nothing to "select" in that regard. If AAO cannot see the device, then there is no way of using it. Edited February 10Feb 10 by Lorby_SI LORBY-SI

What do you mean by "panel" and how does it "include" any controls? Quote but is there a way to assign a local variable to a switch so that I can use it to control functions. Yes, of course. Provided that this is what the aircraft in question requires. Do you have a concrete example of what you want to assign? There are a dozen different ways that developers code their aircraft and conversly a plethora of different ways to assign stuff in AAO. What you see in the "Events" and "Variables" lists in AAO are the just the defaults from the simulators SDK. Aircraft developers love to code their own stuff which AAO cannot know in advance. If you are lucky, they are using Input Events (as they should, as per Asobo), which can be selected from the tab "MSFS IEs" once you are connected to the sim.
