AI Malcontent DC-10 not showing up

Featured Replies

I've been getting pretty good at adding AI traffic, but the AI Malcontent DC-10 is the exception.

Aircraft.cfg has wingspan at 126.46ft (38.55m). Wiki says a DC-10-30 wingspan is 165 ft 4 in / 50.39 m.

AI- Aircraft Editor shows that the parking radius set at 30m. AI Aircraft Radius Table has 39m for a DC-10. Changed parking radius in the AI - Aircraft Editor from 30m to 39m. Checked afcads for 39m parking, changing one parking spot from 38m to 39m. No showing up.

Also checked parking codes and missing alpha channels.

The only thing I haven't tried is kicking the tires

I have the CDAI DC-10-40 (Japan Airlines) and it works fine. Aircraft.cfg wingspan is set at 211 ft and under [General] shows atc_type=BOEING
atc_model=B744

Have I missed checking anything else?

If you can provide a link to the problematic aircraft it'd be easier for others to have a "dig and a poke"

I keep a "sandbox" environment specifically for this kind of problem (usually for my own benefit) so setting up an aircraft and testing it is just the work of a few minutes .... once I've got the aircraft to play with 😉

To edit the radii of AI aircraft parking spots, I use the good old AFCAD. Check your aircraft using its built-in aircraft editor.

AHA! I found the problem.

The ai aircraft editor showed the sim/airfile as blank. Checked the aircraft.cfg file and the first AC (Thai Airways) sim= was listed as sim=DC10-30. It's supposed to be sim=AIM DC10-30 as per the aircraft.cfg entry file included with the add-on livery.

I'm generally good about checking things like model=, sim=, and texture name, but this one got past me.

Since I had a Garuda Indonesia AIrways DC-10 flight set up, I'm happy to report that it showed up.

I'm now a happy camper 🙂
