Is there a way to turn off the data that pops up when you mouse over the map? I don't mind clicking on it when I want to know something, but other times I can't see what I want to, like taxiways without clearing the mouse.

Options -> "Map Tooltips and Clicks".

 

You can also disable tooltips for the whole application In "Display and Text".

Deselect "Map Tooltips" -> Airspaces on the shown page to disable this one.
