Monza G1000

Featured Replies

G'day all,

a question without notice - I am building a new rig & I was thinking about getting the G1000 - now the problem is that I don't often fly aircraft fitted with the G1000 - I liked it because right now I use a second monitor to use little nav map on it & the G1000 only uses a USB C type connect - now my big question is wether the G1000 will still function in say a warbird? Or will it only work in G1000 equipped airplanes?

Rattso

Cooler Master Cosmos 700M - MSI Godlike X (Devillike!!) - AMDD Ryzen 9 9950X3D (water cooled) - 128gb Corsair Vengeance 5200 D5 - ASUS ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 Liquid OC GDDR7 32GB - EVGA 2000W P/S - Creative AE-7 - intel Optane 500gb - 3x 2tb M2 SSDs - 2x 2tb Samsung EVO SSDs - 1x Hybrid 2tb HDD - Brunner CLS-63E Joystick - Honeycombe Bravo quadrant -  Brunner CLS-B rudder pedals - Samsung Odessey Ark 55" - G9 49" monitor

You should fix the typo in the subj line - it's MOZA.

Not sure the relevance of mentioning the USB-C connection, there are adapters if you only have USB-A outlets.

The G1000, like all other addon hardware peripherals require an interface to connect to MSFS and the aircraft, and a profile allowing all buttons and lights to function as they should.

There are 3 great apps that make it easier to configure and use hardware with MSFS 2020/2024: SPAD.neXt, AxisAndOh's, and MobiFlight. Some use FSUIPC but I'm not sure it is as effective. I really like SPAD.neXt.

Do a lot of research here and other places to get all of the info you need. That's what I did for my WinCtrl MCDU and it works great. Good luck!

My specs:  AMD Ryzen 5 5600X @ 3.7 GHz, 32 GB 3200MHz DDR4, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB, 2TB SAMSUNG EVO Plus SSD M2, 2TB WD Black Gaming SSD M2, 8TB WD Black Gaming HDD, 4TB WD Black Gaming Ext HDD, Windows 10, X-Plane 12 + large quantity of 3rd party addons scenery & aircraft. Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo, Thrustmaster TFRP. It's an older machine but gets the job done quite nicely - smooth with no stutters!

I forgot to address your question about the G1000 & unconventional use in other aircraft, such as warbirds, as you mentioned. This might be possible but would require quite a bit of work to set it up. Perhaps someone with more expertise & experience in this area could give you a definitive answer.
