Ortho editing

Hello,

I have occasionally read of people editing and recolouring ortho scenery files using photo editors.

I haven't been able to find a dds editor to do this directly, but there are several dds to png/jpg convertors,

I've tried a few, done the dds converting, editing as jpg, then converting back to dds,

but I've not yet managed to get it to work with X-Plane.

With AI in such abundance now, what is the best way to sharpen and improve

the several TB of dds texture files that I now have please?
