May 7, 200323 yr Hi simmers.I have a RPM Indicator reading problem and don't know how to fix it.Steven Grant's DHC-3 Otter 1000F has a max_rated_rpm of 2200 in aircraft.cfg and the reading stop at 1500. I changed it in *.cfg and tried different datas in *.air file but without any success. Is there somebody who can tell me what and where modifications I have to do to fix it?Thanks in advance for your answer.
May 8, 200323 yr Hello Real,Is it possible that the aircraft has a gear reduction prop. In the Prop section, check gear reduction ratio. The aircraft.cfg uses engine RPM but the gauge may be showing prop RPM.Also check Max_design_MP. Maybe rpms are being restricted. Also check airflow for over-restriction, critical_altitude-10000 and check fuel_air_auto_mixture=1.Is it limited only on the ground at runup? Then reduce beta_min to reduce load on the prop. Usually anything over 12 gives me problems with runup of the engine on the ground.Just some thoughts .. I do not have this wonderful aircraft. :-/Milton
May 8, 200323 yr Hi Milton. Thanks a lot for your answer. I tried your tips but, didn't make a difference.I changed the propeller diameter and ta_dammm..., it works perfectly now. The prop diameter was too large for the prop MOI.
May 20, 200323 yr Author Hey Otter! What did you change the prop diameter to? I noticed that same problem. Thanks buddy !!!Don
