August 24, 200322 yr NOTE: I am a complete novice in the land of gauge editing. I want to edit both the GPS295 and the GPS500 bezel bitmaps to eliminate all but the "frame" surrounding the displays. (I use hardware controls to operate the GPSs so the bezels take up screen real estate unnecessarily.)I tried editing the gps_295_background.bmp found in the "fs9gps.cab" file, but I can't figure out how to get the bitmap back *into* the cab file and furthermore I have no idea whether I would then need to do more stuff to make this work right. Can anyone give me a few pointers on how to accomplish this? Thanks,Dave Blevins System: Asus P8Z68 Deluxe/Gen3 mobo *** i7 2700K @ 5gHz w/ Corsair H80 cooler NVidia GTX 570 OC *** 8 GB 1600 Corsair Vengeance DRAM *** CoolerMaster HAF X case System overclocked and tuned for FSX by fs-gs.com Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog stick/throttle & CH Products Pro Pedals Various GoFlight panels *** PFC avionics stack
August 24, 200322 yr Hi,Just unzip the gps.cab in a folder and name it fs9gps. Place this folder in the gauges directory, modify any bitmap or xml-file, save them and leave everything there, xml and bitmaps."Recabbing" is unnecessary.Jan"Procul Negotiis" Jan "Beatus ille qui procul negotiis..."
August 25, 200322 yr Author Eugen,I did read the FAQ. Unless I missed it, the part about not needing to have files in the CAB in order for them to be seen by FS only mentioned XML files, not bitmaps. To the other respondent, thanks for your reply. I'll give it a shot.cheers,dB.
