August 23, 200421 yr Hi,I have been thinking about this a long time now. And I though I should share it with all you "aircraft builders". :-)We all know that on some short and medium range aircraft, there are folding airstairs modelled in the aircraft model. But what about the long range aircraft?I know that they do not have folding airstairs in real life. But it would certainly be a nice touch if a moving airstair truck or a fixed movable airstair could be modelled, which could have the same keyboard commands as the folding airstairs as the short and medium range aircraft. Some samples:http://www.airliners.net/open.file/377467/M/http://www.airliners.net/open.file/398067/M/http://www.airliners.net/open.file/521828/M/http://www.airliners.net/open.file/431336/M/http://www.airliners.net/open.file/130223/M/We also know that not all airports which hosts long range aircraft, have airgate fingers. So it would be real nice to be able to acommodate for the passengers to be able to board and unboard the aircraft. And the cargo birds hardly uses the airgate fingers ;-)What do you think about this? I know that it would only be another polygon eater,...but on the other hand....Please take a look at Jet City Aircraft Staffan
August 24, 200421 yr Moderator Since those "polygons" would only come into existence when on the ground, the engines are off, etc., there would be no real impact on the performance of the model.Even 80,000 polys that aren't drawn = zero hit on the computer, after all... :) Fr. August 25, 200421 yr You could link it to Engine RPM, so it only appears when the "slow" prop come on...but then if you have an enginge failure in flight your a bit buggered;) Maybe XML anyone? I should really take a look at some simple XML...EDIT: sorry didn't real the post properly...it's already been done huh', I have no idea how;)
August 26, 200421 yr Moderator >well.. >>to me its a bit weird.. where is the truck going to appear>from ? :)With XML conditional coding, they would quitely literally spring out of thin air!Actually, the ideal way would be to have them appear "out of camera range" and then truck over to the open doorway. :) Fr.
