FSPS question - Gauge color editing

Featured Replies

I'm using FSPS to do redo a panel with some reality XP equipment. I would like to be able to blend and adjust the bitmap of the some the gauges (in this case the Apollo instrutments) to better match the background bitmap of the panel. I know it's easy enough to do in FSPS, but my question is if I adjust the color, will it effect the way the gauge looks in all my planes or just this particular one? Anyone have a tip to get around this if it does change the way it looks across the board?Austin

If you edit the gauge's bitmaps, of course it will effect the way it will look in ALL aircraft that use that same gauge. The only way around this would be to make a copy of the gauge, and rename the 'visible name' to be used for a specific panel.I used the term "visible name" simply because every gauge has at least TWO names: 1) the name of the 'wrapper' and 2) the internal name...That's why you have to specify two names on a panel.cfg (note: older, FS98 gauges only have a single name!), e.g., gauge00=SimIcons1024!Collective Icon, 919,941,19,19gauge01=SimIcons1024!Avionics Icon, 951,941,19,19gauge02=SimIcons1024!ECU Icon, 980,941,19,19gauge03=SimIcons1024!Clock Icon, 631,940,19,19gauge04=escirruspfdsys!PFD, 11,458,613,487gauge05=escirrusmfd!MFD, 660,447,613,487In the sample above, "SimIcons1024" is the "visible name" that you will see in the Explorer Window. This particular gauge is a multi-gauge, which means that there are four separate gauges with "internal names."At the moment, escirrusmfd has only the single, MFD "internal name" contained within the gauge.
