Intermittent gauge operation

Featured Replies

Hi all, have produced a small stand alone gauge in XML that shows nearest airport info like frequencies for ILS, tower, etc. as a pop-up. When activated, it tends to just show 000.0 in the window. Hitting panel refresh usually breathes life into it, although it will work first time sometimes. So it's operation is intermittent. Obviously uses gps code. Any ideas why it sometimes missbehaves?thanks, nick

There could be a couple of things going on. Is it sitting near another gauge that might "mask" it (the HSI for instance) and it looks like the gauge is doing nothing when really whats happening is the gauge is active but the screen image has a "frozen section" due to the interaction with the near by gauge. (A quick check is to see if it momentarily seems to work then is frozen again is to turn on the panel lights). This related to gauge draw order. If it uses GPS code, it may be that the gps is initializing before your gauge and causing your gauge to fail. I have seen this problem on a number of gauges that seem to like only one instance in the cockpit (Ie the one on the pop-up works but the one on the co-pilots panel does not). This is somewhat harder to fix and others might be more qualified to answer this than I.CheersShad

Nick,Had the same problem calling the Nearest Functions in the "fmc".That is why i made a seperate info-gauge for the radio frequencies. You only have to type the airport icao ident and the freq's are there.Jan"Beatus Ille Procul Negotiis"
