New Gmax export -How?

Featured Replies

I've installed the new SDK and have Gmax loaded with the FSTools on the menu and have the Oil-Rig example loaded. However the export options does not have a *.x file option only a *.mdl option which according to the SDK is no longer supported. So how can I export an object to FSX from the new Gmax.?

Export the Oil Rig as a Flightsim MDL file.Create a xxx_placement.xml file using the standard template. Edit the xxx_placement.xml file for the Lat/Lon/Alt, use the same GUID as the Oil Rig uses, and the path entry**Now, simply copy/paste the xxx_placement.xml file and the xxx.mdl file to the BGLComp folder and compile as usual.

I compiled the oil rig using the new gamepack into oilrig.mdl (760,222kb). Wrote the location xml file. Compiled it using the new bglcomp and it compiled with no errors making my oilrig.bgl file (760,438kb)Moved the bgl file into fsxaddon scenerysceneryMoved the textures into fsxaddon scenerytexturesStarted FSX and it rebuilt its scenery library and loaded. No Oilrig! Any suggestions? Here's my location file:<?xml version="1.0"?> I used the guid from the gmax file properties for the oil rig. Thanks,Paul DahlenEDIT: Problem solved - Oilrig now sitting next to the runway at KSEA - beware! My guid was not correct but now it is. I'm leaving this in case anyone else can use it.Thanks, Bill for your explanation to add the sourcefile.
