February 8, 200719 yr I have downloaded a few textures and in all of them it says to add files and data to the aircraft config. But in my FSX folder the aircraft config is a file with no path.. and when i ask to chose a program from web to run the config file its suggests some static IP program which is clearly wrong. How do access this config file so i can update it. Or am i dsoing everything wrong. Very grateful for any help.
February 8, 200719 yr Author Moderator In FSX use Windows Explorer and navigate to your aircraft's folder:..Sim ObjectsAirplanesmy airplaneThere should be a file named aircraft.cfg in that folder. This is the one you must edit! ;) Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
February 8, 200719 yr I can locate the file, but if i open it is searches for application to open with. I dont know how to actually get into that file.
February 9, 200719 yr HiI presume you are looking at .dds filesThere is a freeware dds viewer at Nvidia. I use this and find it very useful to examine textures for FSX aircraft. If you want to manipulate textures you will be wanting a different set of programs. This is a direct link:http://download.nvidia.com/developer/NVTextureSuite/wtv.zipCheersMike

Use notepad.exe or wordpad.exe, both of which are in the Windows folder... Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
