Well, "free" for the first 30 days at least. Seems to require $49/mo thereafter though...

No, there is a totally free option as well. Yes, if you want more features, you have to upgrade, but there is a free forever option.Also, with something like what I use (PerlDesk) you pay for a license once and then only have to pay again if after the 6-months you want to get the latest version.However, PerlDesk requires your own site, and some skills to install it and maintain it (PHP, MySQL, etc.).
