ATC Window: German - English

Featured Replies

Hi there,I know, it's a very specific question but maybe there's a freak outthere who knows an answer:I'm from germany and therefore I'm using a german version of FS2002. The ATC-voices are in english which is great cause realistic. But the ATC-window (the text output) is in german language. I don't like the translation because you fly to learn something, don't you?Is there any way to change the german text output into english text output? Thanks for any help.Regards, Watsi

If you could get hold of a copy of the English.fll file it might work...Chris Ehttp://website.lineone.net/~flightsimuk

Here it is www.gbfk.nu/english.fll

Vielen Dank und thanks to all.I'll try if it works and give you feedback.Regards, Watsi

Hi guys,I promissed to give you feedback:the english.fll is not the thing I need, I found out. If I use your posted file, my whole FS becomes an "english speaking programm". So far so good. BUT the only thing which sticks in the german language is the ATC-window. So this is not the file for the ATC (-Window). Maybe it's the atc.dll in the modules-folder but that's just a guess (I really don't know).Someone with advices??Regards, Watsi

*bump*

What you need is the GVP decompiler and the voice pack sdk. the gvp decompiler is in the avsim libraryhttp://ftp.avsim.com/library/esearch.php?D...atID=fs2002misc, the voice pack sdk from the microsoft sdk desk.http://zone.msn.com/flightsim/FS02DevDeskSDK00.asp Once you decompile the gvp(atc) file there is an output.txt, containing all the script. I would give you mine, but i made some changes to it, which are not compatible w/ the default. hope this helps! Also, you can follow these instructions on how to decompile it and add new callsigns. http://webpages.charter.net/smseymour/southwest_atc.htmMoses

This reply is the correct one - you need to decompile the gvp file, change all of the German words in quotes to English, and recompile - warning - that's a big project!! (over 9,000 entries).-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://members.aol.com/tgfltsim/index.htmlAlcoHauler Locomotive Page: http://members.aol.com/alcohauler/home/alcohaul.htmlFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

Thank you all, this sounds like the real thing. Maybe someone of you could send me his original (decompiled) english txt-file (how many MBs?). And I recompile it into my ATC. Sorry but: yes, I'm to lazy to translate the whole atc by hand.Regards, Watsi

Well...I would give you mine, like i said, but i made some changes(added new airlines and facility files), so i really cant help. sorry. but try. moses

I was also trying to do the same, then I realized how big the task was...Maybe that's an explanation why the MS translation of ATC text in my spanish version is so horrible, I suppose they used some translation program instead of human translators. It's not only that listening to english spoken ATC and reading spanish at the same time is unrealistic, but also it is somehow a bit difficult to understand two languages at the same time, furthermore when the spanish text seems to have been written by someone with absolutely no knowledge of Spainsh.Paco

Hey Paco, that's funny.Actually I have no problems with the german translation. It seems that there was somebody at work with some knowledge. But it's still unrealistic, as you said. Maybe some day there will be a file anywhere out there.Regards, Watsi

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi Watsi, now we have 4 weeks gone after your post.I would like to know if you now have the englishtexts for ATC.Let me know ... I' m also interested !Gruss Bernd

Hi Bernd, short answer: nopeI have to admitt that I gave up. I'm hoping for an addon some day which enhances the atc generaly (and maybe that's also in english).Regards, Watsi
