May 13, 200224 yr I tried compiling a scenery bgl with the new MakeMDL and when i click compile, i get an error about halfway through the process saying gmax can't find MakeMDL. Then i went back to the old version that came with fs2002 pro and the same thing happens. do you think its anything to do with having Windows XP or the old (v1.0) version of gmax? I know MakeMDL is in the correct location, and i can enter the coords and everything, it's just that last bit. help!
May 13, 200224 yr Make sure you read the entire error *.log file. It may not be thw lost MAKEMDL.EXE error. Bill Sieffert
May 14, 200224 yr Commercial Member I do sometimes (not often) have the same problem. Then I just change one thing to the model (add an extra texture or something like that, change the mapping). When I try it again then it works.ArnoMember NL2000 Teamhttp://home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsenBtw. I am using WinXP, GMax 1.1 and the new MakeMDL Arno If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can't be done. May 14, 200224 yr Mark, That error message is totally misleading. Everybody gets it. Check the error log in the same directory as the aircraft model or scenery file and hopefully it will tell you what the *real* problem is. Gmax itself is excellent and has very good documentation and tutorials. But the game pack is very poorly implemented, that misleading error message being one example. And there was absolutely no documentation on how to export aircraft etc. In particular the essential animation tag names were not documented, an extraordinary omission (thanks to Chris File for making that info available). Of course, now the info is available in the makemodel SDK. I think it was a bit rich for Microsoft to describe it as an 'SDK' - it was documentation that should have been included on the original CD. Best regards, Chris Wright
