DXT-textures not compatible with ground polygon texture

Featured Replies

Hi,Just want someone else to confirm this. I've never succeeded in using DXT(1)-textures with ground polygons made in Airport or GroundMaker. Is there something I do wrong (shouldn't be), or is it just a fact - ground polygons do not accept DXT-format textures? (I still use BMP2000 for ground textures (do not mistake for MESH-textures)).

Hi,Ground polygons DO accept DXT1 AND DXT3 textures. I use DXT1 on my airports whereas DXT3 uses my colleague in making Zagreb (LDZA) scenery. And using DXT1 textures really reduces frame rate especially if You have big bitmaps.Best regards,Goran BrumenFS Slovenija 2002 teamhttp://slovenia.avsim.net

Do you say that because the texture viewer in Airport doesn't show the texture? If so, that is a limitation of the present texture viewer in Airport.

It is true that the texture viewer will not show the DXT texture (just like the design view of GroundMaker or GMax or FSDS), but in FS it should work fine. I use DXT1 textures everywhere (and DXT3 if I need the transparancy).Arno

If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can't be done.

Hmmm, then I must have done something wrong, because I never have got them to show up in FS2002 either.Back to business then! :)

...and BACK from business :)Now it suddenly started to work for me, and I have absolutely no idea why I've been struggling with this for several months. Thanks.
