Adding things to existing scenery

Featured Replies

Hey everyone.... Im new at this but I was wondering how I can edit scenery to add blacktop around the outside edges of runways and add macros and paint taxi lines on tarmacs???? What file or program do I use and how?? Any help would be great. Cheers, Dave

Hello Dave,There are a number of scenery design programs that allow this. You can try: - Flight Simulator Scenery Creator by Derek Leung (available in the AvSim library). This is probably the cleanest and most elegant interface of all the programs. Support is available in the FSSC forum here at AvSim; - Airport for Windows by Tom Hiscox (available at their own web site). The interface is somewhat clumsy, but generally it will do everything that you want. Support is available at their forum hosted by Niels Pedersen at Flightsim.com. - Groundmaker. Sorry, I haven't used this one in years, but maybe Arno can give you some indications, as I believe that he uses it exclusively.Good luck.Best regards.Luis

I used GroundMaker a lot, but I have switched to FSSC now. This is because GroundMaker has not been updated for some of the Fs2002 features yet, while FSSC (and also Airport) are updated more often. Also the support from the author of FSSC is much better (ussually I get no responds on mail to the GroundMaker author). This may sound a bit negative, but GroundMaker also has some features that the other tools don't have, for example the ability to place TexPoly polygons and thus place a texture with a specific mapping on the ground. If you really need something like that you should use GroundMaker, but for the rest all tools have about the same options. Here are the links to the three programs btw:FSSC - http://www.avsim.com/fsscAirport - http://www.airportforwindows.comGroundMaker - http://www.groundmaker.org

If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can't be done.
