May 19, 200422 yr Hi there. I was just wondering if there is any way to change scenery textures to DXT3 in batches, meaning change all the textures in a texture file at once. Changing them one by one can take a lot of time. Any idea? Thanks,Mike F.
May 19, 200422 yr Author Commercial Member If you run ImageTool from the command prompt you can use it in batch mode. Like when you type this in a certain folder:imagetool -dxt3 *.bmpAll BMP files will then be saved as DXT3 textures. ImageTool does this with the extension *.mip. So afterwards you only have to remove the origional BMP files and rename the MIP files. May 19, 200422 yr Search for FSTexConvert103.zip or visit http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/index.htm and download convim.zip and the lastest *.dll mwgfxdll.exe package.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
May 19, 200422 yr Thanks Arno. Could I ask you please give an example of exactly how to type in the line from the command prompt? I can adapt it to my own setup, I just need to see how it's done correctly.Once all have been converted to .mips, how are the textures renamed without doing them one at a time? Thanks,Mike F.
May 19, 200422 yr Many thanks, W. I have downloaded tried using FSTexConvert as you recommend, but when I try to run the conversion (with all fields filled out correctly), I get an error message: "Bitmap image not valid". Any idea why?As for Convim, the version at www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/index.htm does not convert textures to DXT3 - only DXT1 (unless there's something I don't know, which is quite possible). Is there a version that does? Thanks again,Mike F.
May 20, 200422 yr Author Commercial Member It's probably best to copy imagetool to the folder where you have the bitmaps first and then you can just type the line I wrote above in the DOS screen. If all bitmaps converted correct (you get an error if something goes wrong) you can type:erase *.bmpto remove the origional ones (maybe it is a good idea to make a backup first :)) and thenren *.mip *.bmpto give the new ones to proper extension.
