Taxiway altitude from deleted airport....

Recommended Posts

Hi Andi,I think what you are seeing here is that you should use one altitude for your runway and taxiways. I don't think the scenery engine is capable of handling a difference between then. Also I think there is no way to use polygons at the moment to create your taxiways (unfortunately). Of course you could draw a polygon (apron) with the XML code, but I don't think the AI will recognise that as a taxiway.

First, I wouldn't decompile and change any altitudes in the default files. This will ultimately lead to problems, especially if someone else does the same thing but not to your airport and you then replace your modified default file with another.I believe you can make an apron as a polygon and then add a taxiway path, select Unknown for the surface, adjust the lines, lights accordingly. I believe unknown is an invisible texture.I recommend using SceneGenX - http://www.airportforwindows.com/ and AFCAD221.ZIP in your scenery development. I also recommend providing two scenery files, one AFCAD related so others can play with the parking, and the second having the rest of the scenery.W. Sieffert

>I think what you are seeing here is that you should use one>altitude for your runway and taxiways. There are two places to specify airport scenery altitudes that I am aware of: airport altitude and runway altitude. Taxiways are set to the airport altitude. All altitudes in my xml file are equal, but not the same as in the original MS APxxxx files. Although I set all deletexxx tags, the taxiways use the airport altitude of the orignal airport. If you use AFCAD and change the airport and runway elevation you have the same effect....Andi

Ah OK. That makes it more clear. Have you tried to make a new flatten for the area? For example a LWM polygon.
