Geof's Beechcraft Debonair almost ready...

Recommended Posts

This will be a Freeware rendidtion of Geof Applegate's 1962 Beechcraft Debonair. It is in final testing at this point and is almost ready. I posted some different panel shots and some views of Geof's plane in the screenshot forum. I think you will all enjoy flying this rendition.Night Panel shots:http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboa...rum=DCForumID47..Geof's plane and some comparison panel shots:http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboa...rum=DCForumID47..Some day Panel shots:http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboa...rum=DCForumID47.Regards,Joe :-wavehttp://home.attbi.com/~jranos/mysig.jpg http://avsim.com/hangar/air/bfu/logo70.gif

I would actually be uploading it tonight but I have one little problem to work out on the installer so that those with reality xp radios/gps can have it in the panel with a click on the installer. Hopefully this will be resolved tomorrow and I'll be uploading it.Thanks for the nice shots Joe-glad you are enjoying it!:-beerchughttp://members.telocity.com/~geof43/geofanim2.gif

And I was just about to ask if anyone had any recommendations for a good freeware GA aircraft to beat up the pattern with. I've been playing with the PSS Bulldog, but it's real twitchy, I'm going to have to fine tune it some. I dl'd some others, a commander, a South African Pilatus, a Grumman tiger. Just didn't feel right, hoping this beautiful looking Debonair will be just the thing.Joe

JoeReally looking forward to Geofs plane and the work looks stunning. One small observation the cowl looks to be too visible on level ground giving the sort of cowl exposure from the seating position you would expect from a taildragger.Maybe the visual cowl needs reducing a touch or check in with the man himself to do an actual test from the real seating position in the actual aircraft.Looking at Geofs actual panel shots the nose doesnt seem to be visible at all. Is there an option with cowl and sans cowl? All the bestPeter

Thanks Peter-I realized I sent a beta airfile that doesn't have the correct default eyepoint! I took the shot of the cowl from my eye position in the cockpit-that's how it looks. What does need to be done is an adjustment with the eypoint-since the panel is designed to be slid (slightly alla "fly") adjustments are needed manually from the end user depending on the slid position. This is done using the keyboard-one shift enter is what is needed in the above shot. Here are some shots with the eyepoint set(the default is for full cockpit).http://members.telocity.com/~geof43/geofanim2.gif

Geof,I have always enjoyed your contributions and real world wisdom. I have been frothing at the mouth for quite sometime about getting behind the virtual yoke of your aircraft. It looks to be a superb effort by all involved. The fact that it is modelled on your real aircraft bodes well for an excellent airfile as well. Very much looking forward to this one!

Hi Peter,Thanks,The Beta files I have may be different like Geof pointed out. Since I have been testing, I have replaced a few files that Geof sent me but not the whole package. I know in the ground night shots I posted, I was playing with the eyepoint using shift-backspace, etc. and I was really looking for the panel shot instead of viewpoint. And I think the shots I posted were not the default view available. I changed it. :-)I think as long as the panel is used as intended and people give the 2D panel a chance by scrolling the panel down in the pattern, ala Fly!II, and then scrolling the scenery down 1 time prior to flight, they will be very happy flying this airplane. But this is new for most, so I will at least try to show people the advantage of this.I don't know whether the cowling is higher or not. I think the limitation within the sim requires the designer to pick one viewpoint for the location of the cowling and if we were descending, that should be pretty close to the view, I would think.Maybe in the future we will be able to choose multiple panel views in the sim such as:Ground ViewAscend ViewCruise ViewDescend ViewI guess that is my take on it, maybe the designers out there can put their heads together as this is a very popular contention within all aircraft that are released. It almost always comes up in conversation. Thanks for the comments and I appreciate you posting comments. :-)Best Regards,Joe :-wavehttp://home.attbi.com/~jranos/mysig.jpg http://avsim.com/hangar/air/bfu/logo70.gif

Geofa, really looking forward to this ,as I have the reality xp avionics. One question, is this going to use an auto installer? If so will I be able to unpack the files to a folder of my choice and manually place the files. I like having a little more control of my installs than a blind exe install ,one to many bad experiences with auto installers. Thanks for your contributions to flightsimming Geofa ,also enjoy reading your real life flying experiences also.

GeofAre you saying the panel scrolls rather than two seperate views ? If so thats really something.if thats what you see from the pilots seat thats what you see. It just seemed high.Really looking forward to this one Geof as im sure with your knowledge of the plane and Joe s skills it will be a crackerPeter
