AFCAD/TTools Newbie

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I need some help here if you guys dont mind. I've been playing around with these two programs and theyre really great. I'm working on my home airport... KFAT. Ive added many parking spots and a few gates. (I have a total of 95 parking spots and gates right now... Mostly GA parking. I will probably add more as there are a few tarmacs that I have not completed) Now, my problem is that only most of one tarmac is filled with aircraft. Only 10 "Small GA" aircraft out of like 60 total. NO Medium or Large size GA planes are taking the appropriate spaces, and theres only one Small Gate aircraft (737). There are 2 Jumbos to fill the 2 Heavy Gates. So basically, my question is how can I get aircraft to fill the other parking ramps? Do I have to actually add flightplans for each aircraft that I want to appear? Oh and by the way, If I get all this working the way I intend it to, would you guys like me to upload the AFCAD file for KFAT and the flightplans with it? I've never uploaded anything before so it would be my first time. Anyways, Thanks alot in advance for your help! I'd gladly give you points for helping me because I would really appreciate it.

The short answer is that only flight plans that come with the default plans (and go to KFAT) will show up if you don't add any more. That's what TTools is for! I also use AI Traffic and yRoute, which are Windows front ends for TTools (makes things a bit easier).BTW, my home base in FS is KSAC, and I've "flown" into KFAT many times.I'm sure many folks would like you to upload your files; I fly in 1959 so it probably won't apply to me... :)Hope this helps,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://members.aol.com/tgfltsim/index.htmlAlcoHauler Locomotive Page: http://members.aol.com/alcohauler/home/alcohaul.htmlFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

OK, thanks alot! Ive added lots of routes manually and that seems to work okay. Lotta work though. Ive had to work with the parking a little to get the AI aircraft to flow a little more smoothly and realisticly. Originally, they would all come out at the same time and then get stuck, so I had to fix that. Also, right now I'm working on the timing because currently, most of them depart at around the same time, so the result is a long line of cessnas and pipers and beeches, which isnt realistic at all. I'll let you know how things go! Oh and if everything turns out as I'm hoping they will, then I'll upload the AFCAD file and the flight plans. When I upload the flight plans, I'll set it up for all default aircraft so that people can customize what planes they want to show up and it will prevent problems of someone not having the a/c, etc.

So Far, So Good. I do have one problem though... I have the departure times set to 15 minutes apart between flightplans for ALL planes, but they still depart at about the same time. How do I prevent that and make them depart at 15 minutes apart?

I've never seen this - mine depart right on the advertised. Remember that when you first go to an airport, you will get the last 15-20 minutes worth of departures all at once, so wait for that "flurry" to end before you start your testing.Hope this helps,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://members.aol.com/tgfltsim/index.htmlAlcoHauler Locomotive Page: http://members.aol.com/alcohauler/home/alcohaul.htmlFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

I went thru the flight plans more carefully and reorganized my times. Everything works great and smoothly now. One thing I dont like is having 2 or 3 Cessnas in the spots where airliners are supposed to be. Maybe I can fix that, maybe not. I'm almost ready to upload the files. If you guys like this one, I'll do some more airports in the area (Modesto, Bishop, Chandler, etc.) All the aircraft are default for best framerates but they can be customized to any add-on a/c you'd like. Thanks again, Tom for your help!
